I'm troubleshooting some problems with my 2001 XLT SOHC, and am going over the TPS today. Using the info I found here about adjusting the position of the TPS, along with what's in the Haynes manual, I may have some problems.

First off, the Haynes manual says that the TPS should have 5.0v feeding it when the ignition is on, engine off. Mine has 6.5v. Secondly, the forum here says to adjust the TPS so you have .96v going through it at idle, where as mine has 1.3v right now.

Is the 2001 different? Why would the voltage feeding the TPS be higher than it should be? I'm ready to replace the TPS, but if it is getting the wrong voltage from the computer then this probably won't fix it.

Thanks,
Blue

I'd test another sensor that should have a 5v reference and see what you pic up (the MAF has one). If it's also high then I'd question the ECU.

I'll check that tomorrow. I wish I could find out if this was normal or not, there doesn't seem to be a lot of info on the 2001 engine (somewhat unique).
