91 mazda navajo LX
I have a 91 mazda navajo, it has an A/T,
Question: I want this for towing small loads or trailers,, scamp and casita, Casita says my Navajo has a towing Cap of 5000,
Should I part out of this Navajo so something better or is there a better transmission I can have install that will make it a better tow'er.
I also have leaf springs plus and a 5000 class 3 hitch. Im worried its just a weak tow'er and will break down on the Road

Depending on how many miles are on the trans your probably fine. I pull small trailers (Sea Doo, Pop-Up Trailer) and the trans handles it allright. The engine is grossly underpowered, so I don't like towing more than 2000lb, so I bought a F-150. The best thing to do is test it out. Hook up your trailer and if the trans starts slipping a lot its probably not the best tow vehicle. The A4LD transmission usually has to be re-built ever 150K miles or so. I saw somewhere that the GM 700R4 with an adapter plate is the same length, and slightly stronger but I wouldn't bother.
