Windshield wipers acting up

I have an '01 Explorer Sport, when I turn on my windshield wipers sometimes they come on and some times they don't. Sometimes they will be working fine and then just stop. The only way that they will always work is on high. That really stinks when it's just a drizzle. I just replaced the combination switch and that didn't solve the problem. Where do I go from here?

i have the same problem on mine only when i turn them off they dont even return to the bottom of the windshield to its hard timing it just right to get them to be at the bottom when they are wiping the fastest.

My 2000 just developed the same problem. I was told by an old ford mechanic that the problem is probably a ground issue. I haven't had time to play with mine yet but that seems to make sense as my wipers sometimes work on low and the intermittent speeds (always on high), but they only work on high when weather is very damp or raining.
