I did this with my Full-Size Bronco several years ago. I would take it hunting a lot. We would be on these dirt roads near water canals and have to make a U-turn. The lights helped to keep us from going in the water.
I did basically the same wiring you did. The Bronco had great trailer harness that I was able to tap into for the reverse lead. However, I did not set it up so that it only came on with the parking lights. That's a good idea.
