I have seen a few energizer batteries. None have been something I could recharge. We get a few hundred batteries come and go a year. Basically the Die hard's and Yellow EverMaxx batteries seem to be the best and or last longest. The cheap batteries from Walmart seem to be the most common around and they are really not so bad either thats what I have in my car, and they seem to last awhile.
Neither Sears, nor Energizer, make their batteries. There are, in reality, three major battery manufacturers here in the states, and they make more than 90% of the automotive batteries available. Sears/Die Hard used to be made by Exide, and they came off the same assembly line as the exides, but with a different label stuck to the side. They had some quality issues in the late 80s, but they got much better in the early 90s.
I know Optimas are made by Johnson Controls... JCI makes a TON of different batteries for all the major parts chains.
The third company, if my memory serves, is Enersys. Yuasa is another huge conglomerate, but AFAIK, they're not us-based.
My battery gauge used to drop when I turned on the heater and headlights and windshield wipers
After upgrading my big three I can have the headlights on, fan on high, wipers on, and my 1200 watt rms sub amp on and the voltage barely drops but it recovers quickly
