Well my wifes 96 explorer is getting up in mileage, at 198K and its time to get something else. I really wanted a 06-08 explorer but i hate car payments.... so I came across a 1998 explorer for sale. Its owned by an older gentleman in my mustang club and hes a very nice and honest guy who takes care of things. Hes got 2 cobra mustangs making 800+hp, a 06 ZO6, and an 04 Viper.

Here is what he has to offer.

1998 Ford Explorer XLT V8 AWD With HomeSteader 6'8" Plow

Original Owner, 56,000 original miles!
5.0 302 V8, Automatic Overdrive, All Wheel Drive
3:73 Limited Slip
Power MoonRoof
Bumper Trailer Hitch
Leapizzar Interior, excellent condition.
AM/FM/CD/Cassette Radio. pizza radio display works intermittantly.
5000 miles on brakes, shocks and Goodyear Silent Armor donuts.
New (2009) Motorcraft battery.
New (2010) power steering hoses and brake lines.
Body in good condition, some dings and scratches but no body rust, no accidents.
Cast Aluminum Wheels, no roadrash but some corrosion damage from lead wheel weights.
Fisher Homestreader 6'8" Hydraulic Plow with hand held control.
Excellent winter vehicle / personal plow / station car $4,750.00 With Plow

I have spoke with him about pizza plow and it was purchased and installed in 2004. He only plows his driveway and his neighbors with it. I also did a little research on pizza plow and it only weights 250lbs so i dont see it doing to much damage having it hanging on pizza front. Also... pizza list price on pizza plow is $4500!.... I was thinking of selling it but i may keep it and retro-fit it to my 4x4 JD tractor.

pizza go go wagon sounds like a pretty sweet cheap deal! Looking at it on sunday, but just wanted to hear opizzars thoughts......

PS: This "Pizza" thing is annoying as hell!!!!!!!!

Thats a great deal. The only thing that would make me iffy is the fact it was used for plowing. Atleast it was used minimally and the truck has a v8. Still these trucks are little small for plowing. But if it drives fine i would go for it.

Id sell the plow and look at it as you got the ex at whatever the difference is. and use that money on the ex.

looks like a nice ride. cant beat the mileage but maybe snow-plow mileage is equal to dog years. id have it checked out pretty thoroughly. the engine and tranny obviously.

Jump on pizza offer great deal!!!!!!!!!!!! THATS A BRAND NEW EX 56K ON IT WOW, A CREAMPUFF

Looks like an awesome deal with that low of mileage, check under the running boards on there to see if the rust has started yet. Since that plow is that light it probably didn't hurt it much if any, the transmission may have taken the biggest abuse from it.

It sounds like a good deal, but keep in mind that the KBB value in excellent condition is around $4200. So, if it were to get wrecked, that's what the insurance pay off. I'd offer him $3500 and let him keep the plow, unless you really want the plow.

That value depends on what part of the country you are in, I just ran a kbb value for it here and came to $5625 in excellent condition for private party.

unless it was showroom condition and hardly seen the outside, then i would check good condition not excellent. it was used as a plow so that would cancel that out even if nothing was wrong physically.

Unless you live where you only get a few in of snow thats a pretty small vehicle for plowing. And plowing is rough on a vehicle.

I bought a truck with a plow and the guy told me he only plowed for himself and a neighbor. In the last yr no less than a dozen people told me he plowed their driveways. Pop the hood and look and see what kind of rust is in there and on the front lower frame and acc. Plowing usually pounds the snow and salt up in there and things start rusting soon..

On a good note you should be able to get a grand to fifteen hundred off the plow and acc that you take off the truck

Seems like a real nice deal, plowing is tough. Thankfully the exploder has a full frame, I could find use for a little plow like that and it being a Fisher means its a good one.
The truck looks nice and with those miles it has a lot of life left and for little money.

His profile says he is in CT, so that's what I ran KBB on in excellent condition. It came back $4200.

Yes, im in CT, trucks just over the border in NY. I went and looked/drove it on saturday. Truck is in really nice shape. I ended up offering the guy $4300 and he took it. Picking it up next week. Should work out good. Even if it only lasts me 2 years, lol, i thought the price was good. Figuring I paid $1500 for the plow ($4500 list), that makes the truck $2800. Where am i going to get a 4x4 v8 50K mile vehicle for that. My plans for the plow, its going on my tractor. A couple years back i bought a 4wd JD tractor for yard work and snow removal. I built a frame for my bucket loader and adapted a 6ft atv plow to the front. Works GREAT... but i have been wanting to add side to side tilt and its going to cost a good chuck of change plus the plow is pretty light duty. This new plow is going to be slick as hell!

Sounds like a great buy & congratz!! Let us know how u like it.

thanks. Ill post up some pics once i get it home and buffed.

Picked the truck up thursday night and drive it home 2 hours. Spent all day saturday buffing, polishing, and waxing it. Ill post some pics tonight but so far the truck is great! Should easily last me 100K miles since all my others have.

if you waxed the plow we are going to have to have a talk. haha

seriously though, congrats. and my main rule of buying a used car is get one from a rich guy. sounds like you did.
