I just bought a 2004 Explorer and have no idea what the keypad code is. I am hoping it is still set to the factory settings. If so, how can I find out what the code is. Is it imprinted anywhere on the vehicle?

On my 2000 explorer it is printed inside the trim in the trunk on the driver's side. The way mine is set up you take off the cover where the tire iron is kept, then you will likely need a mirror and a flashlight to see the code. Just go in from where that panel comes off and start flashing your light up towards the front of the car behind the trim. should be there.

Welcome aboard. :salute:

Check out this thread for locating the security module, thanks to Welli for a great write-up!!: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=246957&highlight=entry+code

The factory code is not replaceable. You can, however, program your own code and use both your code and the factory code. You must have the factory code in order to program your own code. The instructions are in the owner's manual. If you don't have an owner's manual, Dead Link Removed.

Here are the instructions. Dead Link Removed

Hope this helps out. :biggthump

It is right side just below the seatbelt on the second row. you have to loosen the panel to get to it it.

On the passenger side of the car, on the second row seating, where the seat belt thing is, you want to pull off the trim. On my 2002, theres two peices, both of slightly different shades of grey, and the top peice comes off first, then you should be able to pull out the bottom peice of the seatbelt holder. I reccomend you use a flashlight and then on a sticker with the code on it. You are also going to see the "computer" of the car, which is what the sticker is ontop of.
