- '96 4.0 V6 limited
So, I got it 3 weeks ago. We still have to know each other, but there's a great feeling and I really hope this will be THE CAR to me.
It's a 1996 4.0 V6 Limited
The general impression, from 1 to 10, is 8.
The best parts are:
it's confortable and strong. Heavy and light at the mean time. Has everything you couldn't expect from a 1996 car here in Italy, and even more. But has the great old fashion of those years, that I saw on TV only.
It can go almost everywhere, can't wait to test it in a true offroad.
It's slow but relaxing. And it's different from modern anonymous SUVs other people drive around here.
On the other hand, it's expensive to take care of (fuel, even with LPG on, isn't cheap at all), and there are only a few people who can put their hands on it and solve problems here. Italians don't know this kind of cars.
The problems I've found on it are not so big as I could consider they were on a new car:
1-odometer sometimes forgets to run... gonna fix it sooner or later
2-AC doesn't work. In a couple of days I'll check if it has just to be recharged, or there is a major problem with compressor or electronic parts. I'll let you know.
3-the parking brake doesn't work. the pedal runs all the way but the car keeps on moving. I have to use the P gear only, and if someone could tell me about this, is it a big problem?
4-fron windshield has a litle scratch on it, but I'll replace the whole windshield for free ina couple of weeks.
Finally, it has 160kmiles on and they sold me for some $9,900, which is a good price here in Italy.
Trans is brand new, same the timing chain and radiator, water pump.
They also gave me 4 winter tires (you may see them on some pictures), 2 mirrors, 1 alternator, 1 gear shift cable, all front lights blocks, lamp included, an mp3 radio, air filter and other little things.
I post some pictures too, to the Administrators, feel free to remove them if this is not the right section, if I made a mistake please forgive me.
And btw, this is the best place to "virtually drive" my explorer! Thanks to all!
I can't see the pictures I posted, so here's the link to some of them if you're interested:
