It just followed me home (version 2)!

I took the drivers seat out last night, and swapped out the seatbelt receiver. I found 31 cents, a literal metric tonne of crumbs and fluff, and quite possibly a cure for herpies.

Anyway, i vacuum'd all of that crap out, decided I probably need new carpets, found a pair of grotty old sneakers under the rear seat, put the drivers seat back in and called it a night.

The postie dropped off a set of goodies today:

Two new headlights, and one new taillight to replace the broken (and filled with rainwater) one.

Taillight fixed and more!

And in five minutes, we've gone from hole and stinkwater:

... to no hole, and no stinkwater:

And when I say stinkwater, i'm not kidding... the "water" that came out of that taillight smelled like a dead cat that was slow-cooked in the fiery pits of Satan's lower rectum.

Also, I really want new carpet...

I know a good cleaning will get 'em looking a lot better, but, it won't do anything for the cig burns... Damn smokers.

It's legal!

Just got back from the DMV with a shiny new license plate. PS: The new South Carolina plates look like ass on a stick.

Subbing for more of your colorful descriptions/metaphors! Haha

But great job so far! I see you're making great progress. Maybe its just because they're new, but those stock taillights you have look awesome.

:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks! :D

As for the taillights, I have yet to find a reasonably priced aftermarket set that doesn't look goofy.

I've never actually seen them, I was going to do smoked tail lights for mine but I haven't found a decent set at a junkyard recently, probably will end up ordering them

Installed new headlights today.

I just spent about an hour doing through the interior with some Mr Clean Magic Erasers, in order to fully eliminate all traces of Human Slime. The Magic Eraser's ability to eliminate Human Slime from a used car cannot be understated.

Obligatory shot of the Bucket of Filth:

And the now clean (i'm ready to call it clean, the carpets still need some attention though) interior:

Ha, that's nothing. How'd you like cleaning up this mess?

^ Rent a carpet cleaner and let the nozzle do all the work, then follow up with a shop vac and fan forced air dry. IIRC there are also some carpet cleaning solutions formulated to keep fungus from growing while it dries... though with it snowing in winter here, if I had the seat out anyway I'd be tempted to lay down rubber after cleaning the carpet.

^ Nice.

I just went out and had a bit of a tinker... Neither the power antenna nor the power mirrors work on my truck. Now, I really don't care, but, it would be nice if they did.

Both Big Fuse number 13 and Tiny Fuse number 1 are intact, and there is 12v at the socket for Tiny Fuse number 1. There is no voltage at the switch (on any of the 7 pins) for the power mirrors, as verified with a multimeter.

Also, on a related... Neither my remote nor the door keypad work. Again, not a deal breaker, but, would be nice if at least the remote worked. I tried programming it, but the truck does not seem to go into programming mode.

I also need to decide where to mount my flashlight. In my Sport, I had it on the driver's door:

Seemed like a good idea at the time, but, caused the door panel to vibrate over bumps, and was a bit klunky to get to without opening the door.

IDK if the mirrors and antenna are on the same circuit, but the power mirror switches tend to fail. I've seen new ones for sale on eBay for around $15, or you could try one from the salvage yard.

The mirror switch can be changed w/out removing the door panel.

Man you have the deluxe sound system, I've legit never seen that on anything but Eddie Bauer and Limited trims, out of curiosity, how's that sound in comparison with your old Sport?

Hard to say, really. It's Quite Good, but the Sport had no carpet or headliner, which contributed to the sound system in that being tinny.

It seems I have just about every option on this XLT, except for leather and a sunroof. Glad to not have leather, and a sunroof would have been nice, not having it is one less leak to worry about.

I pulled the switch out and checked; no voltage on any of the 7 pins in reference to ground. Which is weird, as the fuse is good, and there is 12v at the fuse socket.

Mine has the leather, which its Medium Graphite so it looks great, and the moonroof. Wish I could trade that moonroof for a nicer sound system, the highs and lows in it are a bit lacking IMO

I never liked the fake pleather Ford used in the 90s. Gets way too hiring the sun, and we get a LOT of sun in South Carolina. Glad to have cloth.
