Ideas on a roof rack

I am driving from Alaska to Kentucky in June and I want to get a roof rack, anyone have one? which is best?

look at yakima products. i work at REI and got one there, the Loadwarrior basket... little pricey, but the stff lasts no matter what you put it through... hands down Yakima. if you are to buy.

I've got a Yakima Loadwarrior also, mine came stock on a '03 Explorer NBX. I got it off Craigslist, new in the box, for $75. The thing is well made and held up great for the 3 years I've had it. No signs of rust, doesnt even have a dent, and I just throw stuff up there all the time.

you think its big enough to hold some spare tires, a few gas cans and some rubbermaid boxes?

you can go to yakima's website and completely find out everything you need. they have it sat up where you pick your car and go thru the options and they'll tell you everything it is you would need.

absolutely!! ive got the extension in mine for longer trips, and ive gotten a spare tire, spade and shovel on the sides with a high lift jack, a gas can and a tent all up in the basket. just be careful you dont overload... you might not hurt the basket, but if there is to much weight, you can cave you roof... ive seen it before and the owner was PISSED hahaha

I have the Rola rack but without the extension. You should be able to fit gas cans, rubbermaid boxes, and a spare tire with the extension. Ive managed to get two spare 285s and 2 two gallons gas cans on mine. Plus I like the look a lot better than the yakimas.

oKAY... I guess I'm gonna have to be a copy cat. That roof cargo looks great! PS. what lift kit did you get? I might have to copy that too! ps. I have an 06 xlt but I think the lift kits would be the same.

That roof rack looks great. I have 245/75r17 terra grapplers on my 03 and I put dual exhaust on it, so not only is one pipe is through where the spare used to go but also with that size tire the spare won't fit under the rear anymore any ways. I've been looking for a nice rack like this to put the spare on instead of having to keep carrying it around in the trunk, and I really like the look of this one but I was wondering if the stock mounts that come with it will work to attach it to the crossbars or did you have to get separate mounts?

I bought rhino rack tracks, feet and cross bars to get rid of the standard junk to fit an alloy 3/4 cage on top. Added some double sided door seal to the underside of the tracks so no rain gettin in
Had 80kg in at a few times no issues, 5 years going strong
