Does anyone know if a head unit installation kit exists for a '98 that doesn't have that stupid pocket. I'm ISO one that just centers a single DIN in the hole w/out the useless pocket below it.
Thanks
Eric

theres a few member who just mounted it in the middle, and cut a piece of plexiglass to fit around it and painted it black. doesnt look too bad, just a lot of blank space. i forget who has it though, sorry.

I have the same install kit as magicfan25. i picked mine up at a local car audio place. payed through the nose for it too.

Here is what I did with the pocket. I cut a piece of smoked plexi to fit over the pocket and flush with the deck and mounted some switches in it. All the wiring is in the pocket.

Here is a pic:

I have the same one as Magicfan25. That one is designed for an equilizer to be put in under the radio. It comes with a piece that pops in the opening to cover it if you dont have an equilizer. I have an equilizer in mine, but I dont have any pics of it on my computer. I think it cost about $25 or so.

I too have the same one as MagicFan25. I didn't even get a choice when I had my HU installed. The people at Circuit City were like, "Oh by the way I forgot to charge you for the adapter you'll need so that will be $25." So I paid it and they installed it. At the time I didn't know there was anything else but so far I like it. Oh yeah and you can see pics of it if you click the link in my sig.

not entirley useless

the pocket does hold a single jewel case :-) so u can carry around 1 cd in it.. or 4 if u stack them in the single jewel case lol.

I had one without a pocket but it cracked when i hit a pot hole.. now i have the one with a pocket.

Just cut the pocket out and mount a 1/2din EQ there, that's what I did, and it sounds way better now too!

mine didnt have a pocket.. but i got it done at a shop

Why not just buy the kid thats designed for a 1/2din EQ?

I already had the kit w/the pocket and the car audio shop that I bought it from installed it for free. He just cut the pocket and stuck the EQ in there... can't complain when it's free, it works, and it looks good!
