    Broken canister purge solenoid

Yesterday I accidently broke the nylon T-bushing that connects the solenoid under the intake manifold to the plastic tubes from the charcoal canister to the throttle bottle. Is it fine to drive with it broken for a while? I smell a bit of gas, but I read that is going to happen when this...

    Reaccuring problem with 94XLT

Cfkane, today on the forum I came across discussions on the canister purge solenoid. So today I found the little bugger tucked under my upper intake manifold and when I attempted to pull is out, like the threads advised, I broke the nylon (very brittle) T-joint that connects the vacuum lines...

    Reaccuring problem with 94XLT

Cfkane, how could I compensate for low volume? It seems to act up worse when there is less gas in the tank, although as I remember it still does when there is almost a full tank of gas. What other things could I replace other than the fuel pump that could fix this low volume situation, though...

    Reaccuring problem with 94XLT

Cfkane, when the truck was acting up (dying on me) I could hear the fuel pump cranking when I turned the key, but when I cracked the gas cap I heard no pressure excaping. The threads to where the gas cap screws into are quite rusty. Could this be happening because there is a poor seal?? Thanks!

    Reaccuring problem with 94XLT

The last few times I have driven the XLT and stopped, turned it off for a while and then attempted to restart it, the truck will start up for a bit then die. I have to sit for a minimum of 30 minutes until it will restart. Do think it is possible for your weekend mechanic to replace a fuel...

cold engine = stalling and erradict idle. advice?

Check the Idle air control valve (clean if dirty), EGR valve + EGR pressure sensor (I replaced both of mine for 90.00 at Autozone, but be careful with removing the EGR valve...I broke the tube = 100.00 through Ford!) , and your fuel pump could be going.

    Reaccuring problem with 94XLT

I run regular 87 octane from Mobile stations in the XLT. I don't know the ethanol content in it. I forgot to mention that if I drive for awhile, say on the highway for 30 minutes and pull at a rest stop and leave the car running for five minutes it will act up, not to the extent that it does...

    Reaccuring problem with 94XLT

Thanks, I really appreciate the advice. I'll have the fuel pressure checked out, but I've never heard of Checkers. Must be located only in the South!

    Reaccuring problem with 94XLT

The truck runs great when I start it up in the morning. It only acts up when it has been running for awhile and I shut it off. I don't know much about cars, but I know it has to be something located around the engine which can be effected by heat. I pushed that little tire nozzle to test the...

    Reaccuring problem with 94XLT

I checked and no coolant dripping from tailpipe. It almost feels as though it does not receive enough gas. Yesterday I was at a mall and went shopping for half an hour and when I returned I could not move the XLT out of the parking lot. It only creeped along, no matter how far I pushed the...

    Reaccuring problem with 94XLT

I don't believe there is coolant coming from the tailpipe. I will have to check. I know for sure there is a leak in the lower intake manifold gasket. I have to fill the coolant resevoir every so often, but not too much.

    Reaccuring problem with 94XLT

I check the level of the trans fluid on a regular basis. I changed the trans filter a few weeks ago, but did not do a trans flush. Would a crack head cause these symptoms? It is more like bogging. In park it stutters and if I press the gas pedal it will accelarate rough. When I engage in...

    Reaccuring problem with 94XLT

When my XLT is hot and I turn it off, let it sit for a few minutes, then turn it on and drive, I can't! There is extreme hesitation and no power. I can press the gas pedal all the way to the floor and it won't go over 5mph. I thought I had fixed it by replacing EGR valve and EGR pressure...

Idle & Loss Of Power !HELP!!

What is TBS? And with a 94 how can I have Ford replace the part for free? Do I call the local Ford dealership? Any information is very much appreciated.

Idle & Loss Of Power !HELP!!

No, I never did get the lower maniforld gasket recall! When was that. I have only owned the XLT for a few months. My brother in law bought it in 2000 and he mentioned that a technician said that the lower manifold gasket is leaking oil and coolant. Could that be the problem?

    Radiator question

Last week while trying to fix a loose fan shroud I accidently drilled a small hole in my radiator. Coolant began to slowly drip out at a constant rate and I mended the hole with some Fahrenheit heat putty I had. The day after my stupid incident I drove to Vermont and back (650 miles total)...

Idle & Loss Of Power !HELP!!

My 94xlt does the same... When I turn the engine on when it is hot I have extreme hesitation and no power. I thought I had fixed it with a new EGR valve/EGR Sensor, but obviously not. So you are saying it is a hot spark plug misfiring? I changed my spark plugs about 1000 miles ago and my XLT...

Broken EGR Valve to exhaust Manifold tube

Today I attempted to intall a new EGR valve in my '94 XLT and broke the tube that runs from the valve to the exhaust manifold. Anyhow, I called the Ford dealership nearby after hours and still have not heard from them. Just wondering if this part will be expensive or is it easily available...

Fuel Filter won't budge, tool won't fit.

To relieve the fuel pressure you can also do this: start your truck and in the power distribution box is the fuel relay fuse which you pull and your truck will stall as the fuel pressure decreases. Just put the relay back in when you are done and turn the key to on, not start, and let the...

It won't even turn at all. I turn the key and all I hear is a rapid clicking sound.

    94' XLT Won't Start

Followed detailed directions on replacing a bad fuel pressure regulator (FPR) today from the internet; turned engine on and pulled the fuel pump relay to depressurize the system; removed air hose; drained about a quart of antifreeze to remove coolant hose near FPR. Removed FPR and placed new...

    Rough acceleration

I have a '94 XLT with 175,000. Recently I have had the problem of rough acceleration/idling after driving for a while and shutting the engine off. To be more exact, I drive for about ten minutes, park the truck and turn off the engine, then return ten minutes later and start up with rough...
