Yes it does shift manually from 1st to 2nd. What does that mean?

Mine is a 94 2 wheel drive and my problem is that it doesn't want to shift into the next gear when it's cold or hot. I can help it shift by letting off the gas peddle and then giving it some gas, but then it's like a sluggish shifting. No slipping at all though, really weird if you ask me...

Hi, I have a 1994 Ford Explorer 2 wheel drive 4.0 V6 and my transmission is not shifting properly. It won't shift to the next gear but if I let off the gas and give it a little of gas (kinda like padding the gas peddle) the car shifts sluggishly. It does this in every gear. I got some good help...

Thanks to everyone who has helped me out with this problem. I did go through the floor board down to the transmission to fix this problem, it was a very tight squeeze but got it done in no time. Thanks again for your help and time. And sorry it took me this long to respond to you all life has...

Can someone send me some kind of diagram of where the Transmission Modulator is on a 1994 XLT Explorer? And on the best way of changing one as well? Thanks for your time and help.
