yeah, my evap canister purge valve is on the driverside next to the brake booster. What I see in your picture appears to be the EGR vacuum regulator solenoid

Of course in that thread they say the tubing runs to the PCV valve, however on my 03 the PCV runs directly from the back of the driverside valve cover to the intake by a piece of hose thats no more than 5" long. That long tube very well could have come off of the 02 that I tore down to put into...
