I would add some decent skid plates to the list as well. Otherwise what you listed with either a sport or a BII would be sufficient. Might take a bit more work but I see no problems. Lots of guys run jeeps on 33"s through these trails.

Did something fly up and hit the oil pan? Hard to believe that the suspension compressed enough to hit. Especially after all the years you have driven it bombing thru the desert.

Haven't decided yet. If I do I probably will just drive our explorer out and camp in it. With all the races now it is hard to go wheeling on many of the trails. I would almost rather go during a different weekend now.

San Diego to Shaver lake is a 7ish hour drive depending on traffic. Best to drive up the day before and stay at hotel or bed and breakfast in Shaver or Fresno. There are some awesome trails within 2ish hours of my house. It makes living in Fresno worth it. Hope you can make it.
