    Highest Mileage 4.0, V-6, Explorer

Original owner. 203,000 with original timing chains and cassettes. Also original water pump, exhaust system, u-joints, plastic panel below rear window and transmission although OD light flashes if accelerating hard with heavy load. Both left side wheel bearings replaced twice. Both right side...

EGR Insufficient Flow Check Engine Light

Not sure about the ticking sound. Did the original have the ticking sound? Really not much to the part. Just a gate type valve as I recall. Sure you have the gasket in place and the bolts were evenly tightened for a good seal?

EGR Insufficient Flow Check Engine Light

Update Thought I'd give an update. So far I"ve changed the following parts in this order: 1) DFPE sensor 2) EGR valve 3) EGR Vacuum Regulator Light was still on so I tried replacing the Advanced Auto DFPE with the original used factory part removed in step 1. The light went out and the...

EGR Insufficient Flow Check Engine Light

Could you expand on this? What tube goes from the exhaust into the throttle body assembly? I thought the tube goes into the EGR. I can't seem to get rid of code P0402. So far I"ve changed the following parts in this order: 1) DFPE sensor 2) EGR valve 3) EGR Vacuum Regulator I have...

    Maf Sensor Code

I used to drive my Explorer through deep water until I checked the fluid in the rear and found it had the consistency of chocolate milk. They were leaking badly; the bearings and seals were shot. I ended up having both the front and rear differentials replaced with used parts. I drive around the...

I NEED HELP! Is It Wheel Bearings or Front U-Joint/ CV Joint?

When my front wheel bearings wore out there was no detectable play when I raised the front end to check. There was a hum that later became more of a roar when the vehicle was slightly off dead center. It was quite only when driving on a straight flat section of highway. I may hold a record with...

Help Removing 2002 Front Drive Axle

Thanks for your reply. I think you're correct and there must be an error in the Haynes 2002 2003 manual. I ended up changing out only the front hub bearings. I'll change the axles with the ball joints when it gets a little warmer. Bearings were the immediate problem. 161,000 on the org front...

Help Removing 2002 Front Drive Axle

I'm in the process of changing out my front bearing hubs and thought I'd change the front CV axles while I'm at it. I followed steps in my Haynes manual but I'm stuck. I removed the wheel, brake caliper and bracket, disk, hub, disconnected knuckle from upper control arm, tie rod, and stabilizer...
