UPDATE : My liftgate latch mechanism/motor came in today. I installed it and the liftgate works automatically now ! Happy ! Previously , taking the shotgun approach I had replaced the power lift cyinder but that didn't do the trick. I removed the power lift cylinder and reinstalled the old one...
