Before I did mine and the air box was stock, took it through a car wash. Got home and pulled the hose off going to the intake (to do the mod) and there was water in it. I don't doubt that more water could get in with a swiss cheesed air box. Just have to be careful.

Just finished mine. Did'nt drill as many as the link above shows though. Only about 15 or 20 7/8". Slapped in a K&N and went for a test drive. Engine is a lot more throaty on take off and seems to have a bit more power. Does not blow my shorts off, but hey.

Cleaned the IAC. It was really clean, but sprayed electrical parts cleaner in it and let it dry completely. Still squeels. Next I'll disconnect the battery, adjust the throttle screw 2 or 3 turns and go from there. Thanks again.

I'm thinking about doing the same thing to my 2002 XLS. How big were the holes and how many. You drilled them in the bottom of the air box, under the filter right? Also going to put a K&N in it. COOL!!!

The way this one is set up, adjust the screw and it makes the butterfly hang open or close more. More open the butterfly, faster the engine idles, just as if you were putting your foot on the gas. I adjusted it a little, but it is not completely closed when engine is off. What RPM should this...

I took it off and looked at it. Looked really clean. Engine idles good. May try spraying it down with an electric parts cleaner though. I've looked at the throttle body. Seems like when engine is off, butterfly is completely closed. I'll check it again in a minute.
