5r55e No auto shift out of 1st

Great...I was hoping it was a solenoid or maybe the VB gasket. So looking like not something I can just do by dropping the pan or VB. Wonderful. I need to get a gauge and do the pressure tests I guess. I was just wondering if there was a way to troubleshoot whether it was a band or shift...

THEFT light flashing on 99 Explorer

But you haven't answered one question. So, you just want to take a guess and start tearing things out?

5r55e No auto shift out of 1st

2000 Explorer Sport 2wd (01 body style) 4.0 sohc automatic (5r55e?) 200k + miles Symptoms occurred shortly after intermittent fuel pump failure left me stranded. O/D light began flashing at start up even before truck had been moved from the fuel pump issue. No flashing O/D light prior to the...

5r55e No auto shift out of 1st

Can I get a transmission guru on this one? Anybody? I've searched the forum high and low but nothing specific enough to this problem. Also, I didn't jack with the EPC solenoid because I heard it was touchy and I didn't want to fry it by putting volts to it.

THEFT light flashing on 99 Explorer

Normally the PATS system would disable either your fuel pump, injectors, or the starter if there was a flashing theft light at all. Is it a rapid blink? I have run my X with a flashing theft light but that was only by directly applying 12v to the fuel pump circuit and by passing the...

5r55e No auto shift out of 1st

2000 Explorer Sport 2wd according to VIN (1/2001 date of manufacture and 01 body style) 4.0 sohc automatic (5r55e?) Symptoms occurred shortly after intermittent fuel pump failure left me stranded. O/D light began flashing at start up even before truck had been moved from the fuel pump issue...

    Chilton for a 2001?

Unless you can't afford that. I call that a reason. I know enough to get by without the shop manual in most cases, but haynes are still more crap than a chilton is.

    Chilton for a 2001?

Gees, you know it. I've been looking for a chilton on this 01 for over a year. Nobody has it. O'reilly looked it up and said they didn't make one for the 2001. WTF? So I have been getting by using those up to 2000. Personally, I think Haynes SUCK. All a Haynes does is give you that...

2001 Ford Explorer fuel pump won't turn on.

Did you ever buy and install a pump from those guys on ebay? I'm seeing a lot of bad reviews on them for defective parts.

Engine won't start after cool down...Crank sensor??

Another issue I have run into recently in a similar situation, is that when driving around on low gas (below 1/4-1/2 tank), in tank fuel pump overheats and wears prematurely. Sometimes on longer drive will lock up and run again only after cool down.

2001 Ford Explorer fuel pump won't turn on.

Thanks a lot for that. It looks identical to my pump, but the auction states it's for a Sport Trac. I would assume it's samie samie for an Explorer Sport, but I would rather have OEM numbers to verify. Did you get yours yet? Fit? My backup car took a dump and the water pump bearings burned up...

2001 Ford Explorer fuel pump won't turn on.

Negative on the external pump. Can't find one affordable that has spec PSI. All the autoparts stores here have in stock is externals meant for low pressure carburetor application (4-9PSI), and the only externals that could supply the PSI would have to be special order, and cost more than just...

Fuel pressure too high? Pressure Regulator?

Actually, hold pressure should be minimum of 30psi before 5 min has passed or you have a leaky fitting, leaky injector, defective fuel pump, or defective fuel pressure regulator.

2001 Ford Explorer fuel pump won't turn on.

Can you explain how you made a "flap"? Cutting torch? Same problem with mine. Intermittent fuel starvation. Dead in the water right now, and getting tow warnings plastered on my windshield by the mall cops who have nothing better to do than write faux tickets. PATS light goes out after...
