    Will vacuun leak cause tranny not to go into "drive"?

    My son has a 2000 Ford Explorer XLT 4.0 V6 Automatic. Currently when he first puts it into drive, it will not move until he gets to about 3K. He limped it the 3 miles home and parked it. Unfortunately I am about 150 miles away. Could this be caused by a vacuum leak? I knew it had the codes...

    Front wheel grinding/power loss

    It sounds like a wheel bearing. That sound you are describing sounds exactly like what I was hearing. I replaced both front wheel bearings and rotors and all is well. Good luck.

    What is this hole in my center console?

    Thank you all for the replies. A buddy told me that it was for Kleenex and I did not believe him. I really like the mini-MagLite I saw placed there on one of the links. (This is the first vehicle that I have ever seen with a tissue dispenser option.).

    What is this hole in my center console?

    Ok, I cannot for the life of me figure out what this hole is for. It sits between the center arm rest and the cup holders. I own a '99 Explorer XLT and the hole is just below the opening of the center console and it faces the dash. (If I could post a photo I would show it to you.)

    Aka exploder, it sounds to me like you have a vacuum leak. Seriously, you need to check your PCV valve and vacuum hoses. I would clean your PCV valve and throttle body with a spray carb cleaner and then wipe what you can reach with a clean paper towel. I bet if you do each of those you will...
