Could I have a bad Speed Sensor (VSS), causing it to not go into 4th OD. My miles are off by 5 miles.

yes mine does unlock if running 55-60 mph but the rpms change just a little bit, when tipping the brake petal. Still staying at 3000 rpm range. Speed up to lockup and rpms down a little. 2800 rpms. Any ideas???

Did you get a check engine light for this code or just checked. How would I know if the MAP sensor would make mine not lock up, if it is not the MAP sensor. Any way of checking

Thanks. They might not be stock just have rust. Still will work on replacing them. The shocks on the front are newer. I don't know the brand (white).

If I can finded a used one that I'll try that. My Gear set is going to be good. Before I got the transmission rebuilt the rpms where good.

It had been covered before in this thread, but could the MAP sensor be going bad. If the MAP tells the computer to tell the transmission to lock up and it's not locking fully. Could this be it?

Are you talking about switching to these Bilstein Shock # B46-1569 for the rear. I believe I still have the stock original shocks on the back. Little extra bounce and rusted on them (black). The truck doesn't go much lower while having a load on a 6' x 12' trailer loaded to max (3000lb or less)

I'm thinking about changing my shocks on the rear. Looking on autozone's website for shocks I notice these Gabriel Load Carrier Shock with coil over. # 43172 Has anyone tried those before? I do carry a heavy load on a trailer thought out the winter hauling firewood.

Well found my problem. A cracked valve. Heads look great. Refaced all the valves and did the seats.

the plug on #4 was black with a little carbon. After a whlie the plug became wet, but can't be lit. If it had gas on it then it should catch on fire. The rest of the plug looked like the engine is running lean. On #4 the plug looks rich.

OK I do get OD when driving and letting it run up to 3000 rpms. Than it will have a faint shift into OD, I guess. But still running 2800 or more rpms. Would any chemical free up anything or valves? Or just try to adjust the OD band? The truck has been driven everyday that it has been rebuilt.

Looking at the first picture you have I see you have the manual conversion. You probably just need to tighten the jam nuts. As long as the bearing still moves good and never ran dry it should be good. You might want to pack the bearings. -Remove the first nut. Slide of the locking ring. Undo...

if your truck has manual hubs you should have nuts like in the picture (image for reference) but the same on a 91 explorer. It is a hub conversion kit. You'll have to use a special socket to tighten or chould use a punch and hammer.

I can take off in any gear [D] D 2 1 everything works just won't kick into OD. I'm not sure about your problem. But mine did to same thing before it was rebuilt. Something like this, "I couldn't take off in [D] but any other gears work than I would shift from D into [D]."

oil plug is in and tight. Used a 5qts oil. I drive it everyday. But after a week I how to add 2 qts. (beginning of the week) than on Wed I have to add 2qts more. Small drips under the truck. Only smoke if it leans to the driver side, but no smoke when driving or start-up. I used 10w-30.

Mine uses oil. I think it's some of the value seals that the oil is leaking (burning). I have been using regular 10w-30. My truck has 258k on the engine. Will the high mileage oil help to keep the engine from burning the oil as much?
