    2004 Altenator in 2005

Jonothehut, I had to get that guy running that night. I got it online, so yes, I can return it, but it would take time to do that. If it is a problem, I will get the correct one and just keep that one for a spare as my 2002 Sport uses that one. I think that it is ok as both are 130A output and...

    2004 Altenator in 2005

Nobody? I am thinking that it is fine as it is still charging fine and is holding fine with only the 2 bolts. I was told that the single wire was for a light or if there is a gauge. Don't know if that is correct or not but the gauge seems to be working fine. Thanks for any input.

    2004 Altenator in 2005

Hi, I bought the wrong altenator (2004) for my 2005 Sport Trac. It fits but with only 2 mounting bolts (1 on the top and 1 on the bottom) but seems very solid. Belt lines up perfect. Seems to charge fine (14.3V). Question is the 2005 unit has a single white wire (1 pin connector) and the 2004...

    Rear End Growl on Turns

Follow Up Part 2 Well drove over 100 miles since the fluid change and still all good. I think that the problem has been solved! Thanks again everyone. Ended up costing a grand total of $72.00 for everything (3 qts Mobile 1, Ford XL-3 additive and diff gasket). Hasn't been this quiet in months...

    Rear End Growl on Turns

Follow up... Just wanted to thank everyone for solutions. Hubby removed cover, cleaned everything up, added Mobil 1 LS (took just about 3 quarts), added the Motorcraft 4 oz of additive (I know the Mobil already has it but what could it hurt) and so far the binding, shuddering and growling are...

    Rear End Growl on Turns

Thanks for all the help guys! Ok, I guess my plan is to get the that 7oz additive from Autozone, drain some out of the rear diff (do I need to get some kind of pump?) and add the whole 7oz. Should I get the additive from Ford or is the Autozone stuff ok? The noise is only when turning. It's...

    Rear End Growl on Turns

Ok. So do you guys think it would be worth trying a fluid change with the Mobil 1 with the additive and add the Ford friction additive? Is there any way to loosen up the clutches without disassembly of the rear end? Right after changing it, is there anything that should be done (like going...

    Rear End Growl on Turns

Axles, ring and pinion, clutches, wheel bearings were all replaced. Twice now. Would wheel bearings only make the growl kind of sound only on turns? It seems like the the rear end is like a locking one on turns as it seems like the inside wheels on a turn is trying to break loose. If I...

    Rear End Growl on Turns

So should I try to change the diff oil to see if the clutches free up some, if that is what it is? If using the Mobil 1 oil with the additive already in, should additional additive still be put in? Or does everything need to be replaced. Again. You think a Ford dealer would get it right at...

    Rear End Growl on Turns

It's not a steady growl it's like a pulsing growl. An only on turns. Can bearings go out that fast? If that is what it is it would be the 3rd time in less than 50k miles. Would that also explain the binding and clunking when stopping and starting up after a stop? Thanks, Zoe

    Rear End Growl on Turns

I have a 2002 Sport with what sounds like a cat growling . The whole rear end (ring, pinion, axels, traklock, bearings ect) was replaced at 128k at a dealer. Within 3 months it was binding again and growling on turns. They redid the whole thing again (said they would have their "rear end" guy do...
