Pickle 2.0 - Full Width SAS/SOA 4406 swap
I had the same concern, not having hub or wheel centric adapters is making a weak link in a otherwise very sturdy axle. I ordered a custom hub/wheel centric set from http://www.motorsport-tech.com/ If was less than $200 shipped and well worth it for piece of mind. If you call and ask for...- BKennedy

All this is great information, since I could not figure out how FOA provides six different rates with only four shim kits, but now I get it. I am a little picky about how things work, and now I have lots of options. I am real pleased with how the coil over shocks work out of the box, so with a...- BKennedy

I saw a dude on youtube re-valve a set of shocks like mine in about ten minutes. I figured I can handle that. Like you said, I basically welded up an entire SAS with coil overs by myself (lots of technical help, but little hands on help). I purchased new valve kits from FOA. I was advised by...- BKennedy

Fuel filter change, then fuel system cleaner...mistake???
Those fuel treatments don't really do that much. I would not worry about it. Most of the stuff they do help with is past the fuel filter.- BKennedy

That was about it; 20+ miles of speed up, brake, bottom out, speed up, brake, bottom out, rebound, bottom out, ouch, ouch, slow down. Some of the road is smooth, like graded road smooth. I would be cruising along at 45 or so, then see a big dip, brake to 30, wham....speed up, repeat. I have...- BKennedy

Thanks. Bumps are way down on my list, just like changing out the wedgie bushings for less caster so it turns tighter. It drives very nice on the highway now and it might mess it up if I go with less caster. I am not sure how much 3* will have on turning radius, but I think it might have a...- BKennedy

99 Ranger SAS Brake problems
The bleeders on a stock Ford F-150 Dana 44 are nearly in line with the banjo bolts. They should face towards the rear and slightly above the banjo bolts. I had all kinds of brake problems with my SAS as well. Finally got them to work with lots of bleeding. Pedal pressure is still soft until...- BKennedy

The part of Odessa canyon where you busted out your back window would be a no go for anything less than what we were driving. Needed a front locker to get over the first part (3+ foot ledge), and to keep off the window basher rock. Mike's air compressor would not run, so his ARB would not...- BKennedy

Spent the week off roading in the Mojave. Had a great time. Explorer performed exceptionally well, except for in the whoop-de-do type roads, which go on for miles on the Mojave Road. It bottoms out in the front too easily, and the rebound is too fast, causing the front to spring up for the...- BKennedy

That reminds me, I need to give him the winch cable I took off mine when I switched to synthetic rope. His is all ratty looking and he is too cheap to replace it. Today I had time to either: Install the rock lights (need to weld four tabs down each underside of the Explorer, then mount...- BKennedy

I think you got the positive and negative mixed up. From Wild Horses 4x4: Item #: Caster Caster Angle The caster angle is defined as the number of degrees backward (positive) or forward (negative) of the tilt of the king pins (Dana 30) or ball joints (Dana 44) in relation to a...- BKennedy

I am still not happy with the brakes. Spent the better part of yesterday (except the alignment time) working on the brakes; gravity bled them, adjusted the booster push rod. So, how about towing the JP Mobile out to the desert with that thing some time and come camping with us?? Nice purchase. I think I know who used to own that truck. He bought it, lifted it, drove it around for a few years and sold it to get a diesel. Only towed a little lightweight toy...- BKennedy

Bronco II Drop Bracket Hitting Pumpkin
I recommend the Skyjacker cast drop bracket. It has a few spaced holes for lift adjustment, and one survived about 15 years of serious beating in my Explorer before I pulled it for a SAS. Still looked to be in very good condition, unlike the Superlift bracket I had to repair twice due to cracking. -
Trying to get 4x4 working 92 Ex.
Are you driving it on hard, dry pavement? If so, stop. Its is not good for a 4WD system to drive it on the pavement. If it rocks back and forth while turning on dry pavement, then its working normally. Too much traction can break stuff.- BKennedy

Fluid Change Recommendations.
I'm cheap, so I always use Valvoline Synthetic gear oil in 75-90. Never had a problem with gears, lockers, limited slip, etc. It was recommended by a few people who make a living off of drivelines. Transmission and transfer case I always have run Mobile One full synthetic. Runs much cooler...- BKennedy

The Red/Lt Blue wire is only connected when a manual transmission is installed. Its for a "Clutch / Triple Function Switch" that is not used for a automatic.
