That makes sense. Only reason i put the two gauges in was to see what was going on when the first engine started losing oil pressure.

Ok, my buddy and I threw caution to the wind and got the engine/trans in tonight. Dark clouds and raindrops be damned! Worked till 8pm. But the engine is sitting on the mounts. It was dark when we stopped. The trans is being held up with a floor jack. But at least now I can do a little everyday...

I had everything lined up to drop the engine/trans into the EX. Then for the first time in months in Las Vegas it rained with thunder and lightning. Same yesterday, same today. Sigh. Just want the driveline on the mounts! Ahhh!

Got under the EX day before yesterday. Dropped the driveshaft. Drained the trans. Undid bolts for the trans crossmember. Still moving forward. Just a lot of personal stuff going on over here.

Its a 78 country squire. Wood paneling and all. Its a 460 bored .030 over. I bought an angry cam and have a 750 double pumper waiting for it. My son came home with two turbos for it a week ago! He’s kooky! But hey, why not???

Well I’ve been busy with work lately. But ive been enjoying looking at the painted engine. Then I realized the accessory brackets looked awful. So after some hemming and hawing. I took them to the machine shop and let them get a soak in the hot tank. Got all the grease off. Then i wire wheeled...

I'm also building a 460 for my old station wagon. But it's coming behind this explorer. I can't wait to paint that one this same color.

The camaro I'm working on was manual steering from the factory. That said the gear box is a Saginaw unit. The new stuff is a power steering conversion that uses a Saginaw type setup. I'll try and snap some pictures.

Started tearing things down tonight. Pulled the radiator and condenser. Recovered the r134a. Removed the fan clutch, the AC compressor and the belt. I'll try for more tomorrow. Was a long day today. My work for the day was working on a 1967 Camaro RS. I've been doing a 4 wheel disc brake...

It's funny. I moved the explorer from my driveway into my side yard just now to prep for the engine swap. Despite it having two bad cylinders it started right up. Gotta give it to the old 5.0!

Well... ARP actually emailed me back today. The person stated that currently they do not offer kits with the studded bolts like the 5.0 EXs come with. However he did say to let him know what size bolts I need to complete the kit and they would send them to me free of charge. Well it is a...

    1998 Explorer 5.0 “Restoration2021” project

What I decided to do is reuse the ones from the motor that is in the EX currently. I was able to put together a nice set last year from the 2nd motor and the first. I was trying to get look for more to get the timing cover on. So what I did last night was measure the depth of the holes with the...

Thanks for the suggestion. I wasn't thinking in that vein. I'm going to order an ARP set this week. So I can get this motor ready to drop in. If any of them are wrong I'll pick them off the other motor. We need to get the EX on the road!!

Well for what it is worth I just sent a kit suggestion to ARP. Maybe they will read it and make all of us something we can use. Here is to dreaming!

Thanks. I ran into that the first time i got this running. The water pump bolts that you can buy at AutoZone is a hodgepodge of odd length bolts and you wind up not using half of them. I was just hoping maybe one of you guys knew the secret source. My intent to basically have this motor all...

Yes I did. I had the previous motor sitting in my garage already. So I stripped all the necessary bits and set it off. When I swpa this one in. I will still have an extra engine.

It is from NuTech Via Autozone. 4 year warranty. It is just the long block. So I will reuse the existing timing cover. It is a 302. I have no idea if it is overbored. If that is what you are asking. As soon as I get it unloaded I'll post up a bunch of pics so you can check it out.
