Ok, I cranked down the temp sensor fitting and the leak seems to have stopped. But now the gauge seems to have stopped working!! hahahahahah! I tightened down the exhaust and all seems quiet. Had to spin the oil filter on another half turn. When my cheap Autozone oil pressure gauge WAS working...- SuperGordo

Went out this morning and tried to start the EX up. Wouldn't start! What did I do wrong? What could have happened? It was so good last night.... check and double check.. Oh... it's out of gas... good grief. Had a long work day today. Didn't get much time today. I added gas. Started up. Then...- SuperGordo

Alright. Looong day today. Was able to finish a great deal and get the first start in! Very happy so far. Filled with coolant, oil, and so far 12 quarts of trans fluid. Haven't seen any leaks. But i'm going to let it sit overnight. Engine started right up. No hesitation at all. Sounds strong...- SuperGordo

Today I got the plug wires all installed. I used all the old heat shields from the plug wires on the new motor. That was all the plug ends have the metal shields. I figure the extra heat shields won't hurt. I Installed the fuel rail and got the wiring harness laid out. Maybe I can wrap this up...- SuperGordo

Did a tiny amount today. Put the water pump pulley on. The belt tensioner. Honestly If I can devote a whole day to the EX I could get it done. Hopefully I can pop the hood back on tomorrow. I'll keep pressing forward to make the parts pile smaller.- SuperGordo

Yesterday I finished torquing the motor mount bolts. Installed the driveshaft. Put on the accessory brackets. Need to finish bolting up the exhaust and I should be done with the laying on the ground part. New plug wires arrived yesterday. They look like nice pieces. Motorcraft for cast manifolds currently are $81. However they had Standard Motor Pro series on close out for $19. So I went for that. About $30 shipped. So I'll have a nice set of Motorcraft Tubular manifold wires sitting around.- SuperGordo

I bought a nice set of Motorcraft spark plug wires for the tubular manifolds when I first did this. The replacement engine came with some of the plug wires on it with the cast manifolds. If the transmission wasn't an unknown factor and definitely leaking then I may have only done the engine. But I had no knowledge of the trans and never messed with it back in 2021. So considering the engine had to happen it just makes sense to take it out and overhaul it at this time.- SuperGordo

Far as the engine goes. I need to install the exhaust manifolds, flywheel and the spacer between the block and the flywheel. Then mate the trans to it. The dumb thing going on now is this. The “new” used engine is a 1999. The old engine is a early 1998. The new engine has the cast iron exhaust manifolds. I want to use the cast iron units for reliability. Somehow in 6 months i cant figure out where the left side cast manifold is… jeez o petes…- SuperGordo

Well to be clear I personally am not looking to swap a 6r80. But the guys who are pondering this all have 4.6 Modulars. So they have the same bellhousing pattern. 89-93 Tbird cougars would have either 3.8V6, or 5.0V8. 94-97 had 3.8V6 or 4.6 V8 as options.- SuperGordo
