How many physical (non fob) keys should 2017 come with?
I got 2 fobs (with physical keys inside) and 1 standalone key. Never used any of them. One thing don't miss about living in California was all the mandatory valet places.- kmarnes

Help? Setting Dark Mode in 2017 to keep interior lights off when doors are opened?
Maybe you can rig up some sort of fuse bypass switch... flick a custom switch and all desired fuses are disabled. Good luck with the fusebox... it's the worst location of any car I've ever owned and with the 2016+, you'll be dealing with micro2/3 fuses, which are pretty new and can be hard to...- kmarnes

Ordered My New 2018 Explorer
In my case, I wasn't in a rush... in fact I only bought the Explorer because it was a perfect storm. The Costco promo ran from July through August 2016 -- two whole months. In July the interest rate was 3.9%, but in August it dropped to 1.9%. So that's when I pulled the trigger. Canada generally...- kmarnes

Ordered My New 2018 Explorer
I'd say if you were paying in Canadian dollars that would be a great deal. Every dealer varies a great deal between states and countries has it's own way of charging fees. Sometimes it that can be negotiated or waived. I believe I paid a $400 doc fee but they tried to get my on some security...- kmarnes

Don't worry. Sometimes cars get assigned for intensive track testing before shipping for a couple weeks. They'll just reset your odometer beforehand, and likely, you'll also get new tires put on too.- kmarnes

How to order a 2018?
Anyone that wants a 2018, best wait for the next Ford Employee Pricing + Costco deal. And you'll get a haggle free way of getting ~11% MSRP off. Happens twice a year. Doesn't seem to apply to the high end Mustangs, Raptor yet... questionable whether the new Expedition will be included either.- kmarnes

Only a 14-15 gallon tank?- MY17
Sounds like you might have a broken sensor or something. Maybe see if it repeats? When nearly empty I can get 16 gallons / 60 liters. I've been doing some fuel economy tests with different grades, so I let it get pretty empty (never below 10km to next fillup). But if you *just* reset your fuel...- kmarnes

New Winter Tires Diameter Change
They had 18" TR9's on Amazon for $120 a pop (wrong spec though)... and free shipping, so that would have been a great deal for the Americans. I still buy stuff in the states and bring it back... but it's still hit or miss. I do a lot less of that now though because I can't be bothered unless I'm...- kmarnes

New Winter Tires Diameter Change
I took a quick look and amazon.com does sell this exact wheel. Unfortunately not in the correct size. Btw, for your records, here's the precise 18" size I ordered the wheels. It's a multi-fit wheel but you want the 5/114.3. It also fits 5/108: Winter Rims Touren TR9 (Matte Black) Wheels 18" x...- kmarnes

New Winter Tires Diameter Change
I did the same thing. I bought my wheels/lug nuts/spacers at 1010, my tires at Canadian Tire, my TPMS at amazon.com, and got them installed at the Ford dealer. This was over a year ago, when nobody could confirm the official sizes of everything because 2017 was still so new. One interesting...- kmarnes

New Winter Tires Diameter Change
At 1010tire you buy the wheel and the tire spacing kit together (or tirerack.com in the US). You can literally get them shipped to a designated dealer close to where you live to get them installed. Btw, I misquoted my tire size.. they are 24560R18 (the recommended size), not 255 -- I just...- kmarnes

New Winter Tires Diameter Change
You need to get hard plastic spacers with the wheels for them to fit the gap. I don't believe you can fit R20 tires on an R18 rim... never heard of that. Not sure if that's what you are asking though. I bought a set for dedicated winters and got the wheels/tires together. I still have my stock...- kmarnes

2017 Explorer (Sport)-- precise wheel specifications?
FYI, don't need the TMPS19 tool. The car figures it out all by itself, but you have to drive about 10 miles for it to suddenly reset. Even works after rotation now that I've put my winters on twice now.- kmarnes

Ford offers free repairs to 1.4 Million Explorers - Exhaust
I just had mine done for free with my oil change. They showed me the OASIS technical details but wouldn't print it out for me. Ford offers free repairs to 1.4 Million Explorers - Exhaust
So I have a 2017 and didn't really smell anything for the first year. But the past couple months, I've started noticing subtle exhaust "rotten egg" smells -- while CO is odorless, the exhaust itself definitely isn't pure CO, therefore exhaust most definitely has an odor. My observations are...- kmarnes

As I feared... sometimes it might work and sometimes it might just fail. Like playing roulette. Anyone know the bumper color (silver/grey) on the Explorer?
Also somewhat related, but I have a question about touch up paint. I have three tiny rock chips on my main exterior. I have the "smoked quartz metallic" color. 8GB. FAT32's main limit is that no single file can be bigger than 4GB. exFAT has no such limitation and is more modern. Neither would be a problem for updating Sync3.- kmarnes

It took me 16 minutes to install 3.0 on mine. 2.3 or any other version will likely take an equal amount of time. It could depend on the USB stick. The data involved is approximately 1.5GB.- kmarnes
