To cam or not to cam? 4.0 OHV
ok, ok. :D I hear you. I'll try something. I didn't ask for the 93 tune from James, but I'll fill with mid grade next time, and upload 89 tune. Then I'll keep my head down and hope no one catches it. More to come on this when I fill up this weekend.- Dono

Ya, just a read on whats done. If you end up needing SC parts, its worth keeping in mind that Canadian Supercharger is about 45 min from me, so I could pick up parts and send them to you if it makes sense. Just something to keep in mind.- Dono

Here's a quick read on what a guy does for P&P of a 3800 supercharger(See towards the bottom) http://www.3800supercharger.net/p&p.html I see he talks about JBweld to fill EGR hole. Im guessing that will come welded shut for you.- Dono

Do you have a link anywhere to the gauge cluster under your ash tray? That seems like the best spot to put them. I'd only need Wideband o2, and boost. Also, I can hardly wait to see what the 'secret' welding is about. ah, the suspense.- Dono

To cam or not to cam? 4.0 OHV
I had him do an 89 tune also. Its just that I always have run the cheap gas. 2 reasons for the 87 tune. One is to have apples to apples comparison, the other is that I have a company gas card, and they will not be happy is I start using anything other than regular gas. The gas card thing will...- Dono

Shall I say frequent misfire 4th cylinder
Doug, I'm trying to remember what would happen to your compression. I think it would go down, as the older chambers in the heads are larger. I don't think that's a good idea. Also, after pulling the old heads you would need a valve job, resurfacing of the heads, valve guide seals.......ah...- Dono

To cam or not to cam? 4.0 OHV
Yup, your right. SOHC throttle body. From what you just said, its different than the one I have now. No iphone for the hp applications. I installed the 87 octane tune and did a quick drive. My initial feelings on this are: 1. More low and mid range power, don't know about top end 2...- Dono

To cam or not to cam? 4.0 OHV
No, he didn't say. Nor did he say what brands give him trouble. I think I will be purchasing everything I can from him. If he is going to sell me the stuff, he will have experience with it and how it will behave while he is tuning to bring everything together. He did say i would need a pump...- Dono

To cam or not to cam? 4.0 OHV
Ya, I just had a glimmer of hope in the back of my mind that I could cheap out. Not a chance though. :-( I guess It will be a slow process of installing fuel pump and wideband o2 sensor/guage before I install anything else. Then start piecing together all other required parts. I still don't...- Dono

The tunes....I didn't bring my SCT to work today. I'll up the tunes tonight and go for a drive. On the Tips for the Supercharger: Be very careful on the MAF used. 1. Not just any MAF can be tuned properly. 2. 24lb injectors won't do the trick for me, going to have to go larger 3. Wide Band...- Dono

To cam or not to cam? 4.0 OHV
Well, I have my SCT, and James sent me a couple of street tunes today. Very fast. He gave me excellent advice on going with an M90 supercharger, and is willing to work with me on what components to go with it to create something he can tune. James was excellent in explaining whats...- Dono

I'm thinking your right. I'll see if I can send him a couple hundred and send the rest to him in January. Alternator puked its guts last night. Charged the battery over night and rolled the dice on getting to work this morning. New alternator installed in the parking lot at work. Frozen fingers.- Dono

I just checked on the spacers. Not a peep from tee-rev yet. It sounds like he owns his own machine shop, so if he has other work that pays, we get pushed down the ladder. I don't even want to pm him and risk pissing him off. My SCT showed up today. I have emailed Henson Performance the...- Dono

Hahaha...... Boosting the hell out of it does intrigue me. Unfortunately, reality strikes. I'd be extremely happy with a good solid, reliable build pulling an extra 50 horse. I hear ya. Id do the same. It does seem the key to even starting this is that intaake to mount the sc to. I think I might post back in that dead end thread you posted with rpcaster starting an OHV kit. He has plans for a sc mount to OHV. It might even be the tbird m90. There are so...- Dono

Yup, I can see that. Everything. Even stuff I didn't think of like fuel management. I thought a bigger fuel pump, and you would be good to go. So many little things. If your making a new mount to the lower intake, make sure you keep your plans. Then I could just have a different top...- Dono

It looks like the intake manifold has to be as high as it currently is, correct? Kinda look out of my relm unless I am willing to hammer my firewall back, cut a hole in my hood, and loose air conditioning. A bit too much of a trade off for me. I need to learn how to weld. then turbo would be...- Dono

I'm sure you will be able to pull off the pan and oil pump swap. Its not going to be a comfortable thing though. I can hardly wait to read your comments after going thru it. I'm not understanding the P&P of the supercharger though. Are you not going to be worried about too much boost, and...- Dono

Shall I say frequent misfire 4th cylinder
Wow, stop leak works just like advertised. Fills any spot where coolant can move thru. Thanks for the pictures. Being that you have a OHV, you don't have to worry about any timing chains or anything. I'd say if you are mechanically inclined at all, this isn't a big deal. If you are going to...- Dono

Shall I say frequent misfire 4th cylinder
If your smelling coolant under the hood, it could just be upper intake gaskets also. Maybe both. Its impossible to know. Some guys will say its easier to pull the motor to do the heads, but I did mine motor in without any issue. No solid answers, sorry. I say do a leak down test...- Dono

bad day for my explorer
I'd say that due to the way these lower intake gaskets go on these motors, I'm pretty sure they are not original. i can hardly wait to find out. The water inlet/outlet to the lower intake is right on the end where you are seeing the leaking. You will see the gasket blown open probably. p.s...- Dono

Shall I say frequent misfire 4th cylinder
The real clue that makes me think its a cracked head is that your motor is sucking coolant, and you have not reported a sweet smell while driving, or a coolant leak under your truck when parked. That and all of our experiences here with this motor is that this spells cracked head. My motor...- Dono

Shall I say frequent misfire 4th cylinder
If you have a compressor, a leak down tester is pretty cheap and would tell the story for sure. Or, if it were me, I'd just drive it and see how it goes. Keep an eye on the coolant reservoir and see if it keeps getting lower. If it is, you know the coolant is going somewhere. I bet I drove...- Dono
