How to get better Gas Mileage?
bear in mind while one cylinder is sparked and on it's power stroke - on a V6 - 2 more are in or about to be in the intake stroke. The less restriction to their intake air the better. Going from a paper tight cell inconsistent form filter to a woven, layers, synthetic material with more space...- Napalm

How to get better Gas Mileage?
Over 2 years well OK 1.5 years. we put too many miles on the car in one year but that's a different rant. You know what else would have done that - probably trading tires. Polishing the car weekly, or monthly. lowering it 1 inch. Putting lighter wheels on it, taking 500 lbs out of it...- Napalm

How to get better Gas Mileage?
uhm well - highway average for the first 30K miles of the car did roughly 22 mpg. Now I run 75+ often and it's wife, and kiddo in the car from day one. since filter change - for the next 36K miles - it can usually get between 23 and 24.5 mpg - same setup in the same parts of the country...- Napalm

How to get better Gas Mileage?
I haven't read any of this thread but I will say this. I'm not a fan of airbox mods or CAI's on modern cars. Look at how the exploder's box is designed today - it already is a CAI. But I did trade the paper filter for an AEM dry element filter - their newer synthetic compound - it cleans...- Napalm

OEM Or Aftermarket Brakes? Recommendations.
you will probably see the center holes go away on all rotors - especially performance onces. They lead to issues with casting porosity and cracking under stress. So don't be surprised if you don't see them on new rotors from now. NOW let's talk street driving and performance pads. NEVER...- Napalm

The need for Rotor Screws?
with the head off - if you still can't budge the rotor, it's being held on with rust around the hub to rotor interface. Very very common. you need a rubber mallet, or a dead blow hammer. some PB blaster penetrating oil or liquid wrench - spray down each lug hole then if possible spray down...- Napalm

16 Explorer XLT Push Button Start Problems!!
I wonder if maybe your start push button is actually going bad- is bad. I mean it might be that simple too - but I think that would show up in a command log if forscan can read that. IE reading while attempting to start - you're pressing the button but no start command is sent, no other...- Napalm

FIgured I'd update this. So today I finally melted the plastic for new tires. If you would have told me 10 years ago I'd pay over 1000 dollars for 4 tires I'd have thought you were crazy. anyway - Went with MIchelin Defender LTX this time - over the Premiers. SInce I didn't get good wear...- Napalm

16 Explorer XLT Push Button Start Problems!!
well initially I would say if you wiggle the shifter and it starts that's a likely culprit - and it's an easier to fix item. BUT I know that's not always the case. Based on your other data it looks good - but what concerns me is how sporadic it is. SO I'm going to suggest something...- Napalm

Timing Chain Already???
I suspect you have a phaser that is either not responder or sluggishly responding. And that's not a simple repair. Another issue - that is sometimes overlooked is the wire harness. It's possible there is a nick or broken insulation on the CPS line. always a potential issue. Good luck...- Napalm

I was giving that a think. I like the way the premier's handle though. and Supposedly I'd get another 20K out of them if I could get rotating them more often. I did read them but some are vague and many are for different vehicles - so I wanted to see what other explorer owners are on now...- Napalm

2020 Explorer fuel grade reqm'ts
I highly doubt it. Iron block, rather large and heavy - purpose meant for the HD line. There's another rumor going around it's going to go into the mustang and I bet it can't even fit in the hole. while it might well fit in the chassis of the F150 fine - it's going to be so much heavier...- Napalm

I wrote about this before the batteries aren't necessarily the cars fault. SO we have the push button start and my wife being the lazy one she it - leave the key fob in her purse more oft than not. like all other ecoboost engines the rated values only come with 91 octane pure gasoline - E10 mixes and lower octanes will of result in potentially lower power and torque ratings. The 3.0 ecoboost is the 2.7L ecoboost with a larger cylinder bore - it's not new exactly. And I suspect in 2...- Napalm

How and why? So struts are the highest wear item on a vehicle or I guess I should say suspension dampers as it applies to struts or shocks. They are under constant load and in constant motion - even when you think the road is smooth. I don't know how many people say "gee my car sure does...- Napalm

How much gas left after the gauge says 0 miles??

AC not blowing cold
Sorry but no that's not quite how it works. your AC system is meant to have a flow rate - it's not a tire. If the pressure is too high on one end or worse both ends - you have a flow problem that is most likely a blockage. Now what I described eariler doesn't mean your compressor is bad...- Napalm

you might have a bad expansion valve. Prior to entering the cabin there should be a spot to take off the line before it goes to the firewall and the evaporator. At that junction there should be a replaceable cartridge of sorts - and in there is a screen and bit of a cone shape. I've not...- Napalm

I don't really see the death of the fusion. I think it sells too much globaly and it's tied to the EDGE platform. So it makes sense for both of those to live on the next round. Taurus if it was to continue -and I sort of wish it would - needs to be re-imagined as the new performance RWD...- Napalm
