Setina PB400
Based on what? 10% is obscenely high for any kind of manufacturing. Automated crimping and harness making is by far more reliable than doing it by hand.- Mbrooks420

If it’s on factory wires then it probably needs a fair amount of other general maintenance like brake fluid swap, coolant flush, transfer case and axle fluid changes.- Mbrooks420

2000 AWD 5.0 performance upgrades
Definitely can’t use any standard header without EXTENSIVE modifications. Getting around the steering shaft and clearing the frame is VERY tight.- Mbrooks420

I see no reason to change the alternator. I went 100k on my Motorcraft plugs. I’ve got 50k in the current set. I’ll probably change them soon.- Mbrooks420

Gear issue in 8.8 with heavy duty rear cover
There’s nothing wrong with a more solid diff cover. You just need to keep the oil where it’s supposed to be on the gears, and it’d be fine.- Mbrooks420

Oil accumulator
This piqued my interest. Took a look at some parts diagrams, and the 2.0 has the oil pressure switch in the oil filter mount, so it’d hook up direct with just the hose, and a tee. Interesting... I’m also looking into a remote transmission filter. And some power wiring upgrades. And some...- Mbrooks420

PTU gone bad
Silver liquid is pretty curious. I have seen pretty metallic oil come out of bike transmissions after races due to people slipping the clutches waaaay too much and smoking the aluminum plates. It was still obviously black, but had a good sheen. I’m not sure what color the PTU fluid starts...- Mbrooks420

Why you don't want a PIU for personal use.
Surely not zero idling. The heat and AC, and the rest of the extensive electronics would mean it’d have to idle at least a significant portion of the time. Although it would be considerably less, perhaps.- Mbrooks420

Mystery Electrical Plug - 1999 Monty 4.0 SOHC
I’m not sure why it would be the case, but there are definitely models that had them on the right. The only logical thing on why it’d have two is they subbed in a different harness due to a parts shortage/overage.- Mbrooks420

Mystery Electrical Plug - 1999 Monty 4.0 SOHC
Naw. It’s probably factory if they look the same. The plug is USUALLY on the drivers side, it’s occasionally on the passenger side as well. Not sure about the extra pins.- Mbrooks420

The problem is all the drivers side springs have the sag. If you just swap a passenger for a driver it’ll sit pretty level with a slight adjustment of the torsion bars.- Mbrooks420

Why you don't want a PIU for personal use.
Only thing I see missing is a center console. Not really a big deal, lots of aftermarket support there. I’d set up some sort of carputer with a locking storage. I’m sure tons of civilians will still buy them.- Mbrooks420

Do Aviator or Explorer have auto locking?
I don’t see how it could possibly be a patent issue. Features can’t be patented, only the method in which they are carried out. Ford obviously has the ability to know if the keyfob is present. Maybe Ford just doesn’t want their setup exactly as Chevy does. If this is such a problem, this...- Mbrooks420

1996 Explorer V8 AWD drive train
There should be backlash in the chain system. How many miles? Your front driveshaft CV joint is probably worn out. Remove it and drive and see if you still have the issue. Warning: it WILL slowly creep in park if parked on a hill.- Mbrooks420

Leaning left or right
It’s not the shocks. They do nothing to set ride height, you can get under and just unbolt them and nothing moves. The lean is due to the constant weight of the gas tank and possibly driver. You can swap leaves to help, but a new set is fairly inexpensive. Unless, of course you are talking...- Mbrooks420
