Seafoam or not?
Higher octane does NOT make any more power. It cools the intake charge to prevent early detonation or pinging. That is it, the end of the story. The only way to make more power is to raise the volumetric efficiency, cams, valves, compression, headers, forced induction, etc., or using a...- MAS Tequila

Seafoam or not?
Try running it on fuel one grade down. If it doesn't ping you don't need the premium. All the higher octane fuel does is lower the incoming fuel temp. It DOES NOT give more power or anything else. The recommended grade is to cover their ass. There is no way to determine what grade fuel...- MAS Tequila

Advice on buying an explorer 2nd or 3rd gen
I found my current Mounty, a 2000 V8 AWD with 68000 miles, for $3000 about four months ago. It's been a Florida vehicle it's entire life, so NO rust. My parents have a 2004 and 2005 Mounties. My dad's 04 has close to 200000 on it , and has been rock solid. The only repairs it's needed have...- MAS Tequila

Seafoam or not?
I use seafoam on a regular basis in the Mounty and the bikes. It's good at cleaning the carbon buildup . What grade of fuel are you using? It sounds like you or the PO have used fuel with to high an octane rating. If it doesn't ping on regular, then anything higher will cause the...- MAS Tequila

Leaf Spring Question
Go back and look at the springs for the 91-94 models. They have the same dimensions from bushing to center and use the same bushings, meaning they'll bolt right in. They are rated at 1250lbs and are $79.00 each which comes to $156.00 for the pair. So tell me again how much money will be saved...- MAS Tequila

Explain to me why spend around $100 for shocks would be better than spending $160 to fix it correctly? And yes, throwing a Band-Aid on it would be dicking around. And if you think that's attitude, you are very mistaken. I don't NEED help. I was looking for honest opinions within the...- MAS Tequila

Get yourself a 3/4" sheet of plywood and cut it to fit in the bed but extend past the tail gate. The front wheel weight will cantilever the more than enough to support the rear. What kind of bikes do you have? I have a Kawi Nomad and a 95 1500a model. MT- MAS Tequila

I hope this doesn't double post. I'm looking to order parts to play with the exhaust on my '00 Mountaineer 5.0 AWD. Does anyone know offhand what size the exhaust pipes are just in front of the secondary cats? My plan is to cut them out and run something different on back. TIA MT- MAS Tequila

Right Front Axle Seal & Bearing?
You have to change the entire hub. Once the wheel is off you remove the entire brake assembly and the dust shield, then there are three bolts which hold the hub to the knuckle. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yr6CDVPwRaA I will guarantee you 99.9% it's the bearing. MT- MAS Tequila
