I purchased a gear oil bottle pump from walmart. The prices are lower than the parts store and even the gear oil. The leak in the front has nothing to do with the work you did in the rear. It could just be water. Now your pro at it.- Pete Deering

The service manual states 15-20 ft#. Don't do anything , leave it as is. You lucky, if that higher torque was a issue, the bolts would pull out or the bolts would break. You have tight seal. Great job!!- Pete Deering

Also, add wheel bearing grease or similar, too the back of axle seal. You see the spring, the grease keeps the spring from popping out. Also add some axle oil too the opening of the seal after you get it install. It help the axle slip in. Not too damage the seal.- Pete Deering

1998 Explorer electrical issue: windows, wipers, interior lights stop working when car is running
I experience a bad connection with barrel pin. I rang out fine with a meter, but when you apply voltage, it went open. It was in a plastic connector body. I am thinking maybe a bad body ground. If the ground is sharing the same ground stud with the PCM ground.- Pete Deering

Bad bad solder joints. The GEM contains, relays, circuit board. I think you stated a bad connection. I could not find the wiring diagram for the GEM , for that year. There's a power input to the GEM, maybe a bad ground. They all need to be check and verified.- Pete Deering

Its sound like a failing CPU( ECM). Might be losing 5v reference signal. That would effect a all the item you cleaned or replace. Failing cap inside the ECU. You have no code. You remove the ECM and open the covers and visually inspect the capacitors.- Pete Deering
