We're Back
Let's throw this out there as a plus in the Acadia over the Explorer - The Acadia's rear seat entertainment system is integrated with the factory. In park you can view the same thing on the front screen as the back. You can also get 5.1 Dolby Surround out of the system. Looking at the Lockpick...- TxRanger351w

Explorer 2nd row console install
Well, that would have been pretty cool if there was. Guess we'll settle for the standard console. I was looking at the front end, it seems there's a lot of unused space in the bottom. I'm guessing this is where the hardware for the cooler is normally mounted.- TxRanger351w

We're Back
Well, the Denali comes standard with (I think) every option except all wheel drive. Ours was pretty much loaded to the gills. Sticker was $48,600. We ended up at $42,500 before TT&L. Things I liked: - The ****pit - I'm 6'1 and 170#, so narrow. I could lower the steering wheel to where I...- TxRanger351w

Well, on 11/21/13 we traded in our 2011 XLT with 36,000 miles for a 2013 GMC Acadia Denali. Took delivery of this pretty gal today. 2014 Limited 302A- TxRanger351w

2nd Row Sliding?
I spoke too soon on the Silver. That dealer wanted me to give them my trade. Had help from a family friend in the car business who does a lot of wholesaling with the dealers. We were able to get more for the trade, and he got me invoice +300. Not horrible. We're getting pretty much the same...- TxRanger351w

We might be close sooner than you'd think. We're looking at buying land somewhere in Arizona or New Mexico near 4-corners. 2nd Row Sliding?
We're currently pricing 2014 Limiteds. The Edge can be loaded out for less than the Explorer, but the slightly larger cargo area makes the Explorer the winner. I have to research what's different between 2013 and 2014. We found a 2013 that has the 302A package in Houston for the same price...- TxRanger351w

2nd Row Sliding?
Thanks everyone. We do miss the Explorer. Just wanting to make sure we get the absolute right vehicle. In 2 years the youngest will be in a forward facing position, so some of these issues won't be a big deal then. We're also going to look at a Flex Limited today. The dealer has one loaded out...- TxRanger351w

2nd Row Sliding?
Thanks. I went ahead and grabbed a Limited from the local dealership to test out the sliding seats. Everything fits nicely. I was able to once again keep the instant fuel economy up around 25 - 30mpg. We also looked at a Pathfinder, I'm not a big fan of the CVT, and the Honda Odyssey. To quote...- TxRanger351w

2nd Row Sliding?
(Long winded, I was typing this in response to another post, then realized it just wasn't on that topic.) We traded our 2011 Explorer in with 36,000 miles on a 2013 GMC Acadia Denali. The biggest reason was that the second row bench in the Explorer is in a fixed position. We had a 2nd...- TxRanger351w

Explorer A-Pillar Rattle/Noise
I'll second this. We replaced the windshield in May 2012. The buzzing noise came back, similar to the A-pillar, only down towards the cowl. I called Safelite after a year and they said that it had become a known issue for them. Apparently, when reinstalling a part on the cowl there are some tabs...- TxRanger351w

Cracked Fog Light
Changed it out yesterday. You only need two socket sizes (can't remember off the top of my head). Don't bother removing the inner fender lining, just take the three bolts out of the bottom and peel it back. You can use a bungee cord to secure it out of the way. It's snug to slide under if you...- TxRanger351w

Small Overlap Test
I was watching the Volvo a few days ago. I'd like to think that Ford transferred some of that tech, but in looking at how the Escape "survived" I don't think it would have. Videos like this are why my daughter's car seat stays on the passenger side of the vehicle.- TxRanger351w

Small Overlap Test
Right, that's the oblique. Pretty sobering. I was really looking for the small overlap, but that hasn't been performed on the new Explorer. The small overlap is scary. That's the one where you'll end up catching just the edge of an oncoming vehicle at highway speeds.- TxRanger351w

Has anyone heard of the 2011+ Explorer being put through the IIHS small overlap test? *EDIT* (I can see on the IIHS site they haven't tested the vehicle. Disturbing.) Which explorer to choose? HELP!!!
I leased a 2012 Volt for $400 per month. I put almost $4,000 down. Figure the car is $39,000 MSRP, 3 years 45,000 miles, you're looking at a vehicle that costs $42,000 - $45,000? The dealer is probably right, you're going to be paying a higher note unless you put more skin in the game up front...- TxRanger351w

Took Explorer in for first warranty service to hopefully fix a few things
Not yet. It's happened maybe 10 times since we bought the vehicle in 2011. I'm coming up on 31,000 miles, but we have the extended through 100,000 so I'm not too worried about the mileage yet. Until I can reproduce it reliably and "on demand" I won't take it in. For the same reasons as...- TxRanger351w

Took Explorer in for first warranty service to hopefully fix a few things
Were you ever able to get the transmission taken care of? We're still under warranty, but our 2011 did the "thump" twice yesterday. Both times happened during acceleration from a 90 degree left turn. So, slowed down for the turn, let off brake, began turn-in and when I began accelerating again...- TxRanger351w

Peter, Thank you for that TSB #. I was actually referring to the valence implying that the dealership would see the broken light and then claim that the valence being loose on that side was from the same incident.- TxRanger351w

Cracked Fog Light
This actually seems to be a common issue. The left fog light on the wife's car shattered on a road trip to Austin back in March. 2013 Ford Explorer Vs 2012 Acadia Denali
