    4x4 not working

    i'm somewhat of a novice mechanic, and my 97 Ford Explorer sports 4x4 isnt working. I know i need a switch, possibly the motor that swaps from auto/low/high range. what i'm wondering is if Vacuum plays any role in this and it's routing. Also, assuming no vacuum issue and Tcase motor issue...
