    1997 4.0 into a 1999 with a 4.0 both vin X

    I have a 1999 Explorer with a 4.0 that needs replaced. I was told that the only compatible years are 1998-2000. Can anyone tell me what would need to be done to install an engine from a 1997? Both vehicles are complete and both have an X for the 8th digit in the VIN. Thanks!
