    What runs the tachometer on '98 5.0 V8 Explorer?

    Hey guys, My tachometer has been acting funny lately... Mostly around 2000 rpms, it will suddenly drop to 1,000 or 1,500 and then come back up, with no apparent change in engine RPMs. Doesn't appear to affect the way it drives at all. I am wondering what gives the reading to the tachometer...
