    All 4 Wheels Are Engaged All the Time

    98 Explorer XLT 4.0. I have tried researching this, but there isn't a clear answer. My dash has 3 options: 2wd, 4wd AUTO, and 4 low. From auto to 4low it grinds and I can hear it switch.     Strange noise and idle bump

    So my 98 Explorer XLT randomly started idling up and down within a few seconds of each other but when it idles up, I hear a click from the engine, then when it goes back down I hear it again. The idling isn't extreme, but it's annoying. Any idea what the clicking is?
