I wish that I had found this forum before buying an explorer!! I would never have bought one!!
I bought a used 98 model and its spent more time in the workshop than on the road. The remote door locks failed and the timming chain what joy!
I've got it back now only to be embarrased by a friend...

It's great to find some info on the explorer at last.
They are not very popular in Oz and carry the nickname exploder due to timing chain and gearbox problems.
I have had mine for a month now and two weeks have been spent in the workshop getting the chains...
