    most reliable engine for 3rd gen explorer

    I've always had the best luck when I go with the biggest engine available in any vehicle.

    2003 Mountaineer or Explorer

    I have owned a 2003 Explorer with the 4.6 for 6 years and 130,000 miles. The only thing, beside routine maintenance, I have done to it is replace 2 tps sensors, one iac valve, and one dpfe sensor. All else is original and still runs flawless. From my experience, it is a great vehicle.:thumbsup:
