Fixed Turns out it was the tires. The Duelers dont make my explorer wobble at all. Thanks for all the input.

Funny you should say that. when i did the last joint, the one at the front dif, a bearing fell on me. thought i had the exact same problem as on the rear except the broken bearing came out the grease hole so i knew what i had done.

I tweaked the yoke somehow. I used the ball joint tool to press them out as i saw in a thread. I used the same clamp to spread it out, and to my surprise, it worked. U-joints successfully installed.

Needle bearings are ok. That was the first thing my buddy had me check. I forgot to mention the i took the u-joint from the tranfer case end and move it to the rear end and have the same issue with the rear yoke.:)

I was wondering, I got new u-joints for my 2000 Limited. Ordered the same ones for shaft to transfer case and shaft to rear, as I thought I saw online. Got the one in at the transfer case, no problem. The one at the rear however gave me a fit. The joint installed on the drive shaft ok but...

Yup. Looks like gonna be a trip to the ford dealer. Tried the Help! grommet kit. Had to get three packs to get six the correct size. Works ok if you never have to take them back out. Half of them fell out in the process of getting the assemblies in correctly. Thanks for all the help!:thumbsup:

I have a replacement. Didn't come with anyhting in the holes. Having it painted at the moment. I will check Napa today. They usually have a good selection. If they don't, do you think maybe finding rubber grommets with a slightly smaller hole than the diameter of the studs would work?

Does anyone have an idea on where I can get the inserts or grommets that go into the header panel to accept the studs from the turn signal assemblies. My current header panel is cracked and a couple of the holes have the grommets "melted" into the panel and some of the studs have thick, black...

Also, I do rotate my tires religously. I was able to get a bunch of miles out of some $55 a piece Goodyear Wrangler on my truck. When i finally changed they i had wore all of them down nearly evenly.

This 2000 explorer is the newest vehicle i have owned. It has 194k on it. Got it with around 110k. I have a '92 F-150 with 175k on it. I understand about creaks and cracks and such. And only 700 miles on the tires and they have been doing it since i hit 70 the first time. I am just trying...

I meant are there just not enough plys in it. I had them at whatever the store put them at, 32 psi i think. I upped them to 40 psi as max on the tires says 44psi. They are p255/70 r 16. i am replacing the differential stabilizer shock today. I think WalMart is going to give me a problem...

I was wondering the same thing cause I would hate to lose the steering wheel controls. I did have a thought though. I wonder how hard it would be to say take apart the remote from an after market stereo and mount them somehow under the button on the wheel. Hmmm
