Thanks very much. It looks like I'm in for an expensive headache. In the interim, I've spoken with a seasoned gearhead who's pretty sure that the link in one of my gearboxes broke. According to him, I'm probably running with 2WD right now. I don't want to push it, so I'll probably drop it... -

Hi everybody, I googled '98 ford Explorer error code P1309 and this site came up. It looks like a great source of info, so I joined. Bought a 98 Explorer (106K mi) 11 months ago(119K now); no real problems until now. I'm not much of a mechanic, but I follow instructions pretty well...
