Pictures of the XLT and Lumbar Question

The sound of it leaking is different from the sound of the deflation button, it comes from the seat back. Thanks for the tip.

Pictures of the XLT and Lumbar Question

Quick question. Both of the seats in the Explorer will inflate, but they do not hold the inflation. How difficult would it be to do fix this (I assume it needs to be replaced) and what would I expect to pay to do each seat. And here are some pictures of it, and I had to take one of it with...

    Ring and Pinion

I will be looking around. I have an appointment for another guy to buy it tomorrow, if I can make a few hundred on it then it is gone and I will find something else before winter. If I do keep it how will I know if the sound is because of bearing or not. I do know there is a metal grinding sound...

    Ring and Pinion

Is it really even worth it? Will it do anything other than make an annoying noise?

Found out what the noise was. And it has the sohc engine. I will be deciding soon if I am keeping it or flipping it I guess.

Yeah my shop suggested doing the entire rear end. I'll check the link out, thanks a lot.

    Ring and Pinion

The best way I know to explain it is a spinning, whining. Between 35-57 it is the loudest, and it is much louder when the accelerator is down than not. With the accelerator barley pushed there is a grinding noise.

    Ring and Pinion

Thanks for the info. When you say you wouldn't install a used ring and pinion for the the price of a new one, are you saying that it is better to get a new one if I am not doing the whole rear end?

    Ring and Pinion

Found out that my noise was the ring and pinion. What info do I need to know to look up what I need to get to replace mine? I don't want to change anything, just get something that is the same as OEM, or get used OEM. Anyone bought the ring and pinion off of junk Explorer? Is that all that is...

    New Guy with an XLT

Looks like a couple of people had trouble with the staples messing up the plastic. I will get some spray on adhesive and get the color matched kit from the ebay seller and see what I can come up with I guess.

    New Guy with an XLT

Money is really tight. I actually used all but $200 of the money that I had saved to hold my spot in pharmacy school when I get accepted in a few months for next year (taking the PCAT on the 16th and not happy about it haha). And my mom was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer two months ago. She...

    New Guy with an XLT

I will have to find a place to place around. I am used to driving in the snow with my 528i, and it is very doable...but it isn't worth risking it to me to drive it 120 miles in bad weather and have that many chances for someone else to screw up. Not that I want the XLT to get messed up either...

V6, I think there were two versions in '99 right? I'm not sure if that is correct, but either way I'm not sure which it is if it is correct, haha.

    New Guy with an XLT

Hey all, I just bought a 1999 XLT with 167,800 miles yesterday. I am 19 and am a BMW guy. My first car was a 1991 E34, and my current car is a 1997 E39. I needed a 4x4 to get to and from college on weekends this winter if we end up having feet of snow every few days again. I wouldn't have got...
