    well got the problem fixed...ended up being the idler pulley. the bearings had seized up..replaced it for $20 no more noise

    Today when I started my 1994 ford explorer 4wd I hears a noise under the hood while I was idling, then when I accelerated the noise pitched up with the acceleration. The best way I can describe this sound would be a crotch rocket motorcycle (not a harley) in the distance. kind of a whinny motor...
