    bad tranny My mechanic didnt run diagnostics. He based his assumption on experience. Is there anyway I can do a code check myself. And thanks guys for all the help and advice. I should have came here sooner.

    I got an 02 Explorer in September of this year. I immediately had to fix the front end. It was 850 and was very disheartening. Now my 'Check Transmission" light came on. I have no overdrive and it shifts into the other gears later than normal. There is also a high whining sound. My mechanic says...
