Thanks for the information, exactly what I was looking for. I can smell coolant as it warms up. Heater works great, puts out plenty of hot air. Starts easily. Coolant filled up, checked there is coolant at the top radiator neck too. Title transfer tomorrow so I have it. I drove it home yesterday...

Same sort of deal here, a 96 XLT with 140K on it, starts and runs good but I was told "uses some coolant" but they dont know where the potential leak is. Nothing seen under it. Any hugely potential gotchas ? Price is crazy low - 1K
