Actually just came across an 04 explorer with the 4.6 in it. Same price as the 02 but has 73k on it but it is loaded up with leather and sunroof. Thinking this is the way to go as the V8 has more power with pretty much the same mpg. Does ford use the same transmission in the v6 and v8 models?
The explorer is an xlt but it is pretty bare bones. How is the power of the 4.0? My dad had a 99 ranger with this motor and a manual tranny. Seemed great in that little truck but the explorer looks like a giant compared to the little std cab ranger. She is coming from a 98 gmc envoy (s10 style)...
