    I have sanded the metal gear with some 100 grit to give my epoxy something to bite.

    Actually the motor spins the plastic gear around the metal gear. Where my needle points is where the metal gear is supposed to be seated into the plastic gear, as you cann see it has slipped out and ground out the plastic gear.

    If you look at he bottom edge of the metal gear you can see a slightly darker worn out part about 1/16" wide. This is where the metal gear has been free-spinning and grinding out the pastic gear.
