I have sanded the metal gear with some 100 grit to give my epoxy something to bite.

Actually the motor spins the plastic gear around the metal gear. Where my needle points is where the metal gear is supposed to be seated into the plastic gear, as you cann see it has slipped out and ground out the plastic gear.

If you look at he bottom edge of the metal gear you can see a slightly darker worn out part about 1/16" wide. This is where the metal gear has been free-spinning and grinding out the pastic gear.

I used warm soap and water to clean the grease and grime out of the plastic gear.

The metal gear simply lifts straight out of the plastic gear

I have removed the retaining ring and lifted the gear assembly from the motor.

Remove this ring to remove gears. Careful its very springy!
