    The best year would be the one where the paint doesn't fall off the hood. I would recommend you do not buy any Ford Explorer.

    Dealer says it is a common problem. I made the mistake of driving the car too far in too short a time. My tires lasted longer than my paint job.

    This is how my hood looks after 3 years. Dealership has said they will try to help out with the cost of repainting but Ford is silent. I guess this is how Ford thinks paint should work.

    I have the same bubbling problem and was just told by dealer that Ford will not fix it as out of warranty. I bought the car on the understanding that it was put together by competent car builders. Not a company that does not know how to make the paint stay on their cars. Can please explain why...
