Hmm, it wouldn't be the oil as I live in Calgary and my Ex starts up in -35 c without a block heater. I would pull the fuel pump relay and pull the negative battery cable for 20-30 minutes. let everything reset and fire her back up.

Had the same sounds, turned out to be lower ball joints. I thought it was the shocks at first too. If you are going to do it yourself make sure you give everything a good lube while you are down there.

Hello, I did a search and could not come up with the actual sizes for the caliper bolts on my 97 5.0. I'm not talking about the large bracket bolts but the smaller ones that are prone to breaking off. Looking for the actual size or part number eg, m10,m8, 3/8...etc thank you

When I bought new leafs for my 97 I was offered 2 different load ratings, they are stiffer ones. However if you go brand new then it will be pretty stiff.

Yes my rear diff got water in it when I went offroading. My vent hose was cracked off at the base. that's probably what happened to you tcase and trans. I afro-engineered a new vent hose using new rubber and RVT

That is great way of doing it that I never considered. I didn't have much difficulty using the C-clamp tool but both ways work.

I tried looking for covers but no one produces them. I decided to fill mine with body filler, sanded and then painted with the correct factory color (mine was platinum grey). It was a spray can job but I did it properly and with a good 2 part clear coat.

I did mine a few months back upper and lower. Renting the ball joint press is a must!, also having an impact gun is a huge asset electric or air. Here is a list of tools that will help you out when doing this. -Balljoint press -32mm socket for the hubs -pickle fork for the balljoint...

Not sure about the lines but this method works.... try pumping the old fluid out into a measured bucket and just add in the same amount of fluid through your dipstick/filler hole.

I've never physically seen it but on the 5.0 it is mounted on the firewall.

That sounds like a heat shield or muffler components. I don't think it's coming from any area of your drive train. There is really nothing that can make a noise like that unless your transmission internally exploded haha.

Hey, I was having the exact same issues even with a new battery, new plugs, new wires, and new MAF. It was my fuel filter that was causing the issue. Replaced it with a quality filter and the issues went away. She now starts right up in the cold and idles beautifully.
