    2003 v8 xlt transmission slips

I would just do a lighted switch without the relay, the wires not that big, just make sure you run the same size wire to the switch and back as the brown wire. I think the brown wire is 20 guage wire or maybe 18. Pull the floor panel up on the passenger side. You will see 2 bundles of wires...

    Teens or Old people

It seems that most people learn the most from mistakes. I know quite a bit about computers but I've ephed a lot of them up and had to figure out how to fix them. That's where I got most of the knowledge I have today. Like they say Wisdom is learning from someone elses mistakes and experience...

    2003 v8 xlt transmission slips

I had a similiar problem with my 03. Wired a switch to the brown wire so I could see if it was the 4x4 and it eliminated it. Turning the switch off solved the problem. http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=107256&goto=newpost It is kind of annoying that it does it stock...

    X24 Bit The Dust

It might be worth your while to get someone else to look at it. Another mechanic from a shop you can trust and see if he can give a diagnosis of what's wrong and why the engine went. And then maybe even go to a second mechanic. Try to get the same diagnosis twice. It will give you more...

    2003 shifting

Ok, it stopped jerking, and as soon as I flip the swith and engage the front end the syptoms come back. When I take off with a light pedal then get to about 25-30 and step on it, it downshifts and then jerks a little bit a second or so after it downshifts. Is this a cause of the front end not...

    2003 shifting

I got the switch wired in today and it works, so I will see if it makes a difference or not when I take my fiance home tonight. I still can't believe a switch in a little wire makes that much of a difference. The brown wire is pretty cool but anyways. We will see if it helps the jerking problem.

    2003 shifting

What made me think of it being the 4x4 is that it only does it when I step on the gas hard when I'm in second or third. It will then downshift 1 or 2 gears, start to accelerate but jerks some like it's engaging the 4x4. If I start off the line and step on the gas from a dead stop, it doesn't...

    2003 shifting

4x4 engaging on pavement? This is getting frustrating. When I accelerateing hard the explorer jerks slightly when running about 4500 to 5000 rpms. I does not do it when you start from a stop and then step on it. However, if your running in 2nd or 3rd at low rpms going 20 to 45 mph, then step...

2003 auto 4x4?? tranny or ignition?

I just recently purchased a 2003 XLT Explorer. I've had ford trucks before and a newer mustang. What I don't understand is how the auto 4x4 works. I read something in the manual that it says it applies constant pressure to all the wheels or something like that. But I think that's generic for...
