well now there i go solving one problem and creating another. got tired of amp noise so decided to run front components off of head unit. hooked up the first side and tested... sounds good. hook up the second side and the whole thig shuts down. guessing it is because i am sending the cables...

solution found... run front speakers off of the head unit... to heck with the amp expcept... only use it on the sub... what a waste. ive gone through everything... tried ground loop isolator (helped but no cigar) and talked to an experienced tech who says more than likely it is just the fosgate...

been there... done that. i think i am having more of a problem with a bad ground somewhere.

recommend not doing it on the drivers side under the rear seat...

update to project... reran the power down different side of the truck and tried ground in two different spots and also have new battery terminals... guess what... the noise is still there.

i agree... if a shop installed the hu and it isnt working its on them... thats why you pay others to put things in cause otherwise you get stuck with headaches like the one i got goin...

honestly i think one of the best ways to get wiring is to go to one of those discount audio blah blah blah places and get wiring from them. they carry good quality at a lot less cost than your mainstream places. check the cable for lettering that says oxygen free, feel how thick the insulation...

dont think there is a gain for the factory amp... almost 100% sure

the only problem is that with the gain turned down my compnonenets loose a lot of their power. they need the extra push from the gain being up a little. when i say a little i mean only about half. found that pretty much any amp will distort out the speakers with the gain turned up.

Well... ther is good news and there is bad news. The good news is that most likely the E is because of a fuel float (mine went bad a few weeks ago) and that ford does sell them seperate. Bad news is that it is kind of a pain to get at. check out this site for a detail of how to get the tank...

Try turning the wheel when it is chirping. If it gets louder or quiter there is a good chance that it is the power steering.
